Limited to 80 campers per session 

Session I: 8:15 a.m.—10:15 a.m.

Monday-Friday

Grades K-3 Boys & Girls

 

Session II: 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Monday-Friday

Grades 4-9 Boys & Girls

Play On! Soccer Camp

Play On! Soccer Camp will only be held at NHTI for grades K-9 boys & girls. The primary focus for Play On! Soccer Camp will be to provide individual instruction in small group settings.

· Regular team games will be played each day.

· Special emphasis will be on the players getting many touches with the ball thru the use of small sided games

· Each session is age appropriate and will demand maximum concentration and effort.

*A confirmation letter is sent out approximately 3-4 weeks prior to the camp.*

Campers will receive a camp T-shirt and soccer ball.  Special prizes and awards will be presented throughout the week.

 

Don Welford & Derek Johnson

  

Coach Welford is the current head men’s soccer coach at NHTI with over 27 years of high school and college coaching experience. Don Welford is a Boston State College graduate (1970 BS/Ed) and a Salem State College graduate (1975 M. Ed). Coach Welford returns to head coaching duties at NHTI after a very successful tenure as head coach from 2002-2006. His prior experience included one year as assistant at NHTI in 2001 and six very successful years as the head coach at Reading High (Ma) where he had previously served as the JV coach for 14 years. Last fall, he coached Interlakes High School in Meredith, NH after a 4 year hiatus from coaching. During his tenure as head coach at NHTI, Welford’s teams were very successful capturing YSCC crowns and advancing to the national USCAA tournaments in Texas, West Virginia and Indiana. Coach Welford is the owner/director of RTS Enterprises serving all of New England from his home in Laconia, NH

 

 

 

 

Coach Johnson is currently the head girl’s soccer coach and assistant director of admissions at St. Paul’s in Concord and previously coached the men’s soccer team at NHTI. Coach Johnson has over 20 years of coaching at various levels in New England. Coach Johnson led NHTI to numerous YSCC conference titles and USCAA appearances during his tenure as the head coach. He was named the YSCC Coach of the Year in 2008 & 2009 and the Maine Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2000-2001.

What do I need to bring?

Come ready to play! Bring a lunch, ball, snacks, mouth guards (optional) & shin pads (required). A health questionnaire can be printed from the website and is required for the camp. (Forms will also be mailed to campers.)

 

Camp information

 

Play On! Soccer Camp will be an exciting new camp for soccer enthusiasts under the direction of two outstanding soccer coaches. Don Welford & Derek Johnson are well known in New England coaching circles for their energy, knowledge and passion for the great game of soccer.

 

Our Play On! Soccer Camp staff will be comprised of knowledgeable instructors sharing their passion for the game.

 

We encourage you to pre-register!  Enrollment at each session is limited. Please refer to the website for more details.

 

Skill Levels

Players will be divided into age and skill appropriate groups which will demand maximum concentration and effort. Our goal is to develop more skilled players and raise their soccer I.Q. to play the game.

 

Medical Emergencies

An athletic trainer will be available for all sessions. Medical emergencies will be referred to the local hospital.

 

Meals

Campers should bring snacks, drinks and their meals. We will take 45 minutes for lunch for the two sessions along with short breaks. Water will be available at the camp.
