MEET THE STAFF

 

Jim Carey

Jim Carey is a PSC graduate (1990) and currently head boy's basketball coach at Plymouth Regional High School. Coach Carey annually directs the Littleton and Lancaster Shooter's Gold sites and has been with Paul Hogan since 1990 when he served as assistant coach at P.S.C. from 90'-93' before taking the reins over at PRHS. Coach Carey has been an integral part of the Shooter's Gold family since the inception in 1991 and offers a "creative approach to the Shooter's Gold legacy of instruction." The Bobcats won the Class I Championship in 2001 with Coach Hogan's nephew Jim playing a key role on the team.

Ben Dion

Ben Dion is a graduate of Keene State College (BS/History) and is currently the freshman basketball coach at Bedford High School. Coach Dion played at NHTI for Coach Hogan in 2006-2007 and graduated in 2008 before transferring to KSC to complete his education. For many years, Coach Dion has been associated with Coach Hogan attending camps, serving as a counselor and since 2009 serving as a coach at many of the summer camps. Coach Dion has also been the JV boys coach and assistant boys’ basketball coach at Goffstown High School.

Sean Fischer

Sean Fischer is a graduate of PSU, earning both his BS in 2002 and M. Ed. in 2011, in the areas of physical education and health. Fischer is also a graduate of Manchester Central High School where he was a two sport athlete, playing both soccer and basketball. He has been the assistant men’s soccer coach at NHTI since 2010 and was named the new head coach of the NHTI Lynx in December 2013 when Don Welford retired. Fischer is currently the Physical Education and Health teacher at the Robert B. Jolicoeur School in Manchester, NH, serving students with various emotional, behavioral and cognitive disabilities. Coach Fischer will be working with the Play On! Soccer Camps.

Ben Hill

Ben Hill is a graduate of Bryant College (1994/BS/Bus) and serves as both a men's and women's basketball assistant at NHTI in Concord under Coach Hogan and Coach Shelly Winters. Coach Hill is a former assistant at Pembroke Academy where he was a stellar 2 sport athlete in baseball and basketball. Hill has recently taken over the head softball coaching duties at Belmont High School where he is a first year business teacher. Coach Hill begins his fifth season with Hogan Camps serving as an assistant director specializing in post play.

Dan Jacobs

Dan Jacobs is a graduate of PSU (2006 BS/PE) Physical Education teacher at Chester Academy (NH) schools teaching physical education and Adventure Education. He coaches and works with both of the middle school basketball team and is also coaching the soccer and baseball teams at Chester. Coach Jacobs played baseball at PSU and has a coach with Hogan Camps since 2010.

Dala Johnson

Dala Johnson is a graduate of SNHU (2012 BS ED) and is currently teaching math in the Bedford, NH school district. "Princess" Dala has a long history with Paul Hogan Basketball camps starting at a very early age as a camper, then counselor and now as a coach. A very fine player at Timberlane HS, Dala played basketball at the University of Maine and then SNHU. The daughter of Bruce Johnson, Dala is a terrific teacher and role model for our young players and will be at many of the summer camps.

Evan Johnson

Evan Johnson is a PSC graduate (1997, B.S./Bus.) (MED, PSU 2006)and a very well-known coach on the summer basketball circuit. He was a member of 4 fine PSC teams playing the off guard and small forward positions and known as a very good shooter under Coach Hogan. Since graduation, "The Big E" has been coaching and working at various high schools including Timberlane H.S. while working summers for Coach Hogan's summer basketball camps. Coach Johnson is well rounded in his ability to coach boys and girls on the finer points of basketball and is a physical education teacher at Fairgrounds Middle School in Nashua, NH.

Bruce Johnson

Bruce Johnson is another graduate of PSC (1974 BS/PE) and is currently the varsity girls basketball coach at Timberlane High School. Coach Johnson is regarded as the finest foul shooter in PSC history and still owns several PSC records for shooting and shooting percentage. Coach Johnson has been a long time friend and supporter of Coach Hogan's camps serving in many capacities over the years. He is the father of Evan, Dala and Elise Johnson who both work at several camps throughout the summer.

Derek Johnson

Derek Johnson is currently the head girl's soccer coach and assistant director of admissions at St. Paul's in Concord and previously coached the men's soccer team at NHTI. Coach Johnson has over 20 years of coaching at various levels in New England. Coach Johnson led NHTI to numerous YSCC conference titles and USCAA appearances during his tenure as the head coach. He was named the YSCC Coach of the Year in 2008 & 2009 and the Maine Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2000-2001.

Simon Keeling

Simon Keeling is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University (2006 BS/Sports Management). Coach Keeling played for Coach Hogan at NHTI before transferring to J & W to continue his collegiate career. Since graduation Keeling has worked in the NBA Development League for the Idaho Stampede, most recently as their V.P. of Sales and Service. Currently Keeling is a trainee to become a Financial Advisor for the firm Edward Jones while serving as assistant coach for NHTI men's basketball and a consistent presence at many Paul Hogan Camps during the summer months.

Chuck Lloyd

Chuck Lloyd is the Director of Student Life at NHTI, as well as advisor to NHTI's Campus Activities Board. In addition to his role in Student Affairs, he crosses over to the faculty side of the college by teaching in the Business Department. Coach Lloyd has served as Coach Hogan's assistant coach from 2003 to 2011. With his undergraduate experience as a class representative and his current role working with Orientation Leaders, Club Officers and Student Leaders, Coach Lloyd has gained an extraordinary amount experience related to leadership programming. Previously awarded the 2006 NHTI Service Learning Award and 2007 Commissioner's Award for Service Excellence at NHTI, Lloyd knows what it takes to get students involved in service and leadership. In the past few years Coach Lloyd has offered dozens of workshops and presentations both internationally and here in the States to a number of organizations in the leadership field. He graduated from Keene State College with a BS in 2002, completed the MED Program in 2007 and the Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies at Plymouth State University in 2010. Most recently, Coach Lloyd completed his Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from Northeastern University.

Scott Miller

Scott Miller is a graduate of PSC (1989/BS History and 1991 BS Social Science education) and is currently the head girl's basketball coach at Plymouth Regional High School. Coach Miller has served as the head coach at Laconia High from 1995-97 and has been an assistant at PRHS from 1991-94 and 1997-04. A four year letterman at PSC, Coach Miller was the Panther team's captain his senior year and has served in the Hogan Camps since 1992. Miller will continue to rebuild the Plymouth High School girls basketball program serving as the head coach.

Don Mullen

Don Mullen is a graduate of Assumption College in Worcester, MA (1990 – BA/Political Science).and UNH (M.E.D.) At Assumption, Don was a 4-year athlete in Football and was the basketball game/event manager while a student at Assumption. Don is now in his second year as an assistant coach under Coach Hogan at NHTI. Coach Mullen has been involved for several years with Shooter's Gold and other Paul Hogan basketball camps serving in a variety of capacities.

Andrew Newcomb

Andrew Newcomb is a Castleton State College (VT) graduate ('03, B.A./C.J.), and is currently employed by the State of NH as a detective. Coach Newcomb has been a regular staff member at the Shooter's Gold/Specialty Basketball camps for the past eight years working under Coach Hogan. He was an assistant men's coach for the CSC Basketball team for three seasons ('00-03). He served as an assistant coach under Coach Hogan at NHTI from 2005-2008, with his primary focus being player recruitment and low post play. Coach Newcomb specializes in post play and defense, and is known for his high energy level and enjoyment working with young players. Coach Newcomb was a member of the very first NHTI team (12-11) that Coach Hogan directed in the 1999-2000 season.

Cassie Saikin

Cassie Saikin is a graduate of Simmons College (2010, BS Biology) and PSU (2012, M.A.T. Science Ed.). Coach Saikin is currently the 6th grade science teacher and the 7thgrade girls’ basketball coach at the Lyndon Town School in Lyndonville, Vermont. An outstanding scholar athlete in high school, Coach Saikin was a four-year varsity letter winner at Littleton High School and also played for one year at Simmons College. Coach Saikin has been a camper, counselor and coach at many of the Hogan Camps for many years and continues to play a bigger role with Shooter’s Gold camps held in Littleton and Laconia.

Bryce St. Cyr

Bryce St.Cyr is a graduate of Prospect Mountain High School (2007) and graduate of the University of New Hampshire (2011-BS in Kinesiology) and serves as the athletic trainer for the Virginia Commonwealth University baseball team. Bryce also served as the assistant minor league athletic trainer for the Boston Red Sox minor league affiliate, Greenville Drive, in Greenville, SC. Before his stint with the Red Sox, Bryce was the athletic trainer and strength and conditioning coach at NHTI, Concord’s Community College. Bryce has been involved with Shooter’s Gold since 1999 when he started as a camper and has stayed involved by serving as a coach and athletic trainer at many of the camps.

Matt Swedberg

Matt Swedberg is a PSC graduate (1991, B.S./P.E.) and currently serves as the head coach for boys basketball at Moultonborough Academy. Coach Swedberg was the team captain at PSC during the 1990-91 season. He was also recognized as an All Little East Player and was awarded the Little East student athlete academic achievement award. Coach Swedberg has been working with the Hogan Camps almost every year in a variety of capacities. Swedberg was named Class S boys basketball Coach of the Year in 2005.

Mike Sullivan

Mike Sullivan is a graduate of PSC (2006/BS PE) and is a physical education teacher in Thornton (NH) where he also coaches the middle school soccer and baseball teams. Coach Sullivan is the head boys’ basketball at Plymouth Area High School. Coach Sullivan had a fantastic high school career at Hollis-Brookline and then a fine career at PSU where he served as team captain in his senior year. A true point guard and leader, Coach Sullivan has been with Hogan Camps since 2007 working at a number of camps including the Point Guard camps along with Shooter’s Gold camps.

Don Welford

Don Welford is the current head men's soccer coach at NHTI with over 27 years of high school and college coaching experience. Don Welford is a Boston State College graduate (1970 BS/Ed) and a Salem State College graduate (1975 M. Ed). Coach Welford returns to head coaching duties at NHTI after a very successful tenure as head coach from 2002-2006. His prior experience included one year as assistant at NHTI in 2001 and six very successful years as the head coach at Reading High (Ma) where he had previously served as the JV coach for 14 years. Last fall, he coached Interlakes High School in Meredith, NH after a 4 year hiatus from coaching. During his tenure as head coach at NHTI, Welford's teams were very successful capturing YSCC crowns and advancing to the national USCAA tournaments in Texas, West Virginia and Indiana. Coach Welford is the owner/director of RTS Enterprises serving all of New England from his home in Laconia, NH.
